Be nice to yourself. Sometimes when we are trying to be excellent, especially when it comes to eating, we get angry and berate ourselves when we overindulge or slip up. I did it for years and it never worked, in fact, it backfired! Over many years of struggling to find a balance in my nutrition I have had the most success by listening to my body, allowing myself to eat for enjoyment, and eating to feel the way I want to feel. I eat healthy, but not perfectly. I talk to myself in my head like I would speak to a swimmer I am coaching: in a positive, supportive, and encouraging way. Try it if you haven’t. Be nice to yourself and see what happens!
